New Delhi, Sep 27: President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday congratulated ISRO scientists and engineers for successfully launching the SCATSAT-1 weather satellite and wished them "continued success in the coming years".
""My heartiest congratulations to you and your entire team at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for the successful launch of PSLV-C35, carrying advanced satellite SCATSAT-1 along with seven other co-passenger satellites from Algeria, Canada, USA and two from India," said Mukherjee in a message to A.S. Kiran Kumar, chairman of ISRO.
He said that the nation was proud of this achievement and remarked on the importance of the satellite in studying weather patterns.
"I understand that SCATSAT-1 will help provide wind vector data products for weather forecasting cyclone detection and tracking services to the users.
"The nation is proud of this important achievement which is a significant milestone in the progress of our space capabilities," he said.
The satellite was launched on Monday morning from Satish Dhawan Space Centre located at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
