MLAs will decide new UP CM, says Mulayam

Lucknow, Oct 14: Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav said on Friday that the newly elected party legislators will decide who will be the next Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
"The elected legislators and the Samajwadi Party's Parliamentary Board will pick the next Chief Minister," Mulayam Singh told the media here.
The remark comes amid a strife within the Samajwadi Party between incumbent Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and a senior party leader and his uncle, Shivpal Yadav.
The Samajwadi Party leader, a former Indian Defence Minister, however, underlined that there was no rift in the "Samajwadi family".
Mulayam Singh also said that there should be no politics on a Uniform Civil Code and people should be free to follow any religion in the manner they want.
