Wrestling nationals to start from October 23
Gonda (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 20 : The men and women national wrestling Championship will start here on October 23.
It will be the 61st senior Freestyle, Greco Roman style nationals for men and the 19th edition for women, according to a release on Thursday.
As many as 650 wrestlers and 175 officials will reach here for the competition and all affiliated units of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) will participate in this event.
Rio Olympic bronze medallist Sakshi Malik will represent Railways in the 58 kilogram category in women's wrestling.
The other icon players Amit Dahiya (57 Kg Freestyle), Mausam Khatri (97 Kg Freestyle) will represent Haryana while Bajrang (65 Kg), Satyavart Kadiyan, (97 Kg), Dharmender Dalal (130 kg), will represent Railways.
From this year, WFI has made a rule that without Aadhar Card/Voter Card, no wrestler would be allowed to take part in the competition.
Around 90% of the participating wrestlers have submitted their Aadhar Card while the rest submitted their Voter Card/Passport, WFI said.
