Militant killed in Kupwara gunfight

Srinagar, Oct 24: One separatist militant was killed in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday in a gunfight with security forces in Kupwara district, police said.
Security forces had cordoned off Warnow village in Kupwara following information about some guerrillas hiding there.
"When the security forces closed in on one of the houses, where the militant was hiding, he fired upon them triggering an encounter in which the militant was killed," a senior police officer said.
The exact identity of the slain militant is still being established, police said.
