Award functions have lost credibility: Arjun Rampal

Mumbai, Nov 4: National award winning actor Arjun Rampal feels most of the award functions have lost credibility.

"I agree with most of the actors when they say award functions are like a reality show. It is really sad. I remember when I came into this industry there were such credible award shows and to win them was such a high," Arjun told IANS.

He added: "The more commercial they make, it loses its credibility. It becomes boring. I think the award functions have lost tremendous amount of credibility in my life."

Arjun won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for musical drama "Rock On!!".

For Arjun, the National Film Award has not been corrupted.

"I would love to see a genuine award function come out. All of this makes my National Award even so much more special. At least, I have that. National Awards are not corrupted and it's a sacred place," said the 43-year-old.

"Everybody who attends the National Award ceremony have so much of positive attitude...I hope we find one award function which will be genuine," he added.

The actor is currently busy promoting "Rock on 2" -- sequel of "Rock On".

The upcoming musical drama film is directed by Shujaat Saudagar, produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, and has music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.

While Farhan, Arjun, Prachi Desai and Purab Kohli reprise their roles from "Rock On", Shraddha Kapoor and "Titli" fame actor and musician Shashank Arora have joined the team for the sequel.

The film is set to release on November 11.
