Yaya Toure apologises to Man City for 'misunderstandings'
London, Nov 5: Ivorian football player Yaya Toure has apologised to his team Manchester City for the "misunderstandings from the past" and said he wants to "help" it "succeed further."
In a statement issued by the club's website on Friday, Toure said: "I wish to apologise - on behalf of myself and those who represent me - to the management team and all those working at the club for the misunderstandings from the past."
"Those statements do not represent my views on the club or the people who work there. I am immensely proud to have played a part in the club's history and want to help City succeed further. I live to play football and entertain the fans," he added.
Pep Guardiola, coach of the 'Citizens', had made clear that Toure, 33, would not play in the first team, if his agent Dimitri Selcuk does not apologise for criticising the coach for leaving the player off the list for the Champions League.
Toure has scored 75 goals in 267 matches with City since coming from Barcelona in 2010 for 24 million pounds ($30 million).
"I would like to thank all of the fans for their messages through this difficult period. This means a great deal to me and my family," Toure concluded in the letter.
