EC team intercepts vehicle with money in TN
Chennai, Nov 9 : An Election Commission flying squad seized Rs 7.66 crore from a truck on Wednesday evening at Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu.
However, a search revealed that the seized currency was in new Rs 2,000 denomination and was meant to be delivered to a national bank for Thursday's transactions.
EC sources here said the Thanjavur-bound truck was intercepted on the Pudukottai highway.
After verifying documents with officials travelling in the vehicle, the lorry was let off.
Polls for Aravakurichi and Thanjavur assembly constituencies and bypoll for Thirupparankundram seat will be held on November 19.
