Justice Ghambir committee to monitor night shelters in Delhi
New Delhi, Nov 1: The Supreme Court on Friday appointed a judicial committee to inquire into the availability of infrastructure and other facilities for night shelter in the national capital.
The committee will be headed by a former Delhi High Court judge, Justice Kailash Ghambir.
Setting up the committee, a bench of Chief Justice T.S. Thakur and Justice L. Nageswara Rao said that in spite of continuous monitoring by the top court, the situation on the ground was bad.
The court said that Justice Ghambir would be assisted by an officer from the Urban Development Ministry, who would be of the rank of Joint Secretary.
The court also asked the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court to nominate a judicial officer from subordinate judiciary to be a part of the committee.
