No raids by Delhi VAT department: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Nov 11: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday denied reports that his government's VAT department was raiding shops and urged traders to ask for IDs of those conducting raids.
"Rumour that Delhi VAT department doing raids. (It is) completely false. No raids by VAT. If anyone claims to be from VAT (department), ask for his ID and report to police," Kejriwal tweeted.
The clarification followed reports that teams of Value Added Tax (VAT) department raided several markets in old Delhi, including Sadar Bazar and Chandni Chowk, on Thursday and Friday.
The raids have been reportedly linked to the demonetization of 500 and 1,000 rupee notes.
