'Spread awareness about women's rights through films'
New Delhi, Nov 15 : It is important to spread awareness about womens rights and sexual harassment through the visual medium of films, says head of BookASmile.
Farzana Cama Balpande, Head, BookASmile -- an initiative run by online ticketing platform BookMyShow -- added that this is the reason why they are dedicated to organising filmmaking workshops for children.
"We are working across the country with different NGOs to organise filmmaking workshops for children and senior citizens to spread awareness on women's rights/sexual harassment through the visual medium of film and street theatre," Balpande told IANS in an email interview.
BookASmile has partnered with the sixth edition of Kathakar: International Storytellers Festival, which will showcase both contemporary stories and tales from the history and traditions of different countries.
It was hosted in Delhi and Bengaluru last week, and will travel to Mumbai on November 17.
Talking about the initiative, Balpande said: "At BookASmile, we believe that stories are the most powerful way to put ideas out into the world. One can get inspired, peek into the history, learn new things, develop visual imagination and do so much more by simply listening to the storytellers' tales."
