Shuttler Sindhu in China Open quarters
Fuzhou, Nov 17: Olympic silver medallist P.V. Sindhu edged past Beiwen Zhang of the US to advance to the quarter-finals of the China Super Series Premier badminton tournament here on Thursday.
In a contest which lasted around one hour, Sindhu defeated Zhang 18-21, 22-20, 21-17 in women's singles match.
She will next take on China's He Bingjiao, against whom she had lost in the second round of the French Open last month.
In men's singles category, Ajay Jayaram defeated Wei Nan of Hong Kong 20-22, 21-19, 21-12 in a 56-minute tie.
Jayaram will now take reigning Olympic champion and two-time World champion Chen Long of China in the next round.
