PM has wrong priorities on rail infra development: Rahul
New Delhi, Nov 21: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Monday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of having wrong priorities on developing rail infrastructure, noting that he was busy building Bullet trains, which will be useful for a few thousand people, when there was need to enhance rail safety mechanisms.
Gandhi's comment came in the wake of Sunday's train derailment near Kanpur that left over 140 people dead.
"There is need to improve the rail infrastructure. Modi-ji talked about Bullet trains, he spoke about (expenditure of) one lakh crore rupees. But the focus is misplaced. It should be on safety and facilities to common man, on how travel time be reduced from two hours to one hour," Gandhi told media outside the parliament.
"Modi-ji is working for just 3,000-5,000 people. He spoke about bullet trains inside (parliament) but why not on maintenance and safety (of railway infrastructure)."
