Iran to host ParaVolley World Club Cup
Tehran, Dec 5: The northwestern Iranian city of Tabriz has been chosen to host the 2017 ParaVolley World Club Cup on May 1-6, according to media reports.
"The World Para Volley organisers and the Iran Sports Federation for the Disabled are expecting at least eight teams to participate in the competition," World Para Volley President Barry Couzner told the Tehran Times on Sunday, reports Xinhua.
"With an ancient history, a reputation for handicrafts, and designation as a World Heritage Site, the beautiful city of Tabriz was jointly chosen by the organiser and World ParaVolley," Couzner was quoted as saying.
"Given Iran's recent men's gold medal in the Rio Paralympic Games and the exceptionally strong domestic competitions, it is expected that Iranian team will perform extremely well," Couzner said.
Gostaresh Foolad Tabriz will represent Iran in the World Cup competitions.
Iran has won all four editions of the cup.
