Man-U can finish in top-four: Dwight Yorke
Kolkata, Dec 9: Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke said on Friday the battered English Premier League football heavywights still harbour hopes of a top-four finish.
"I think a top-four finish is still possible," Yorke who was part of United's treble trophy winning season in 1998-99, told reporters on the sidelines of an event here.
"Jose (Mourinho) is a good manager and I have faith in him to lift the team," Yorke, who finished top-league scorer during that fabled season under then coach Alex Ferguson, also rallied behind United's under-fire Portuguese coach, who has not tasted success that is now expected from a team of United's stature.
United are sixth in the points table after 14 matches with only 21 points. League leaders Chelsea are 13 points ahead of them.
"It has been a difficult period after Sir Alex (Ferguson). It has been tough for David Moyes and Louis Van Gaaal to not only meet the expectations in England but also across the globe," Yorke, one of the club's global ambassadors said.
Yorke lauded United's Football Association (FA) Cup win under then coach Louis Van Gaal last season.
"The FA Cup win was good. It's been tough days but I'm sure the quality Mourinho has the team will bounce back."
Meanwhile, Swedish football and former United player Bojan Djordjic said the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) should have foreigners who can contribute rather than those who are here just to fill their pockets.
"I think players who are still worth their salt should be part of the Indian League. Ideally, not ones who are here to make money."
