Sasikala camp elects Palanisamy new leader

Chennai, Feb 14: AIADMK legislators backing General Secretary V.K. Sasikala and housed in a beach resort near here on Tuesday elected Edapadi K. Palanisamy as their leader of the legislature party.
And in her capacity as the party chief, Sasikala sacked acting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam as a primary member of the AIADMK.
The emergency move comes after the Supreme Court restored the conviction of Sasikala and two of her relatives in a case of holding disproportionate assets.
Sasikala was recently elected as leader of the AIADMK legislature party so that she could become the Chief Minister in place of Panneerselvam.
