Ethiopian runners dominate Rabat Marathon
Rabat (Morocco), March 6: Ethiopian athletes dominated the Rabat International Marathon as they swept most of the medals in both the men's and women's categories here.
In the men's race on Sunday, Ethiopia's Fikadu Kebebe Debele won the gold medal after crossing the finish line in a time of 2:09:37, followed by Kenyan Kigen Sammy at 2:09:39. Another Ethiopian, Samuel Getachew Demie, came third at 2:09:44, reports Xinhua news agency.
In the women's category, Alemu Worknesch won the title in 2:30:04. She was followed by Kenya's Jeptoo Eunice with a time of 2:33:41 and the other Ethiopian, Bekelu Beji Geletu, in 2:34:05.
Around 9,000 athletes took part in the marathon.
