Flamengo rout San Lorenzo in Copa Libertadores opener
Rio de Janeiro, March 9: Brazilian giants Flamengo scored four second-half goals to beat San Lorenzo of Argentina 4-0 in their opening Copa Libertadores group match.
Former Brazil international midfielders Diego and Romulo were on target for the hosts on Wednesday, as were Gabriel and Peruvian defender Miguel Trauco, reports Xinhua news agency.
The result at the Maracana stadium lifted Flamengo to the top of Group 4, two points ahead of Chile's Universidad and fellow Brazilian outfit Atletico Paranaense.
In other matches on Wednesday, Palmeiras held Atletico Tucuman to a 1-1 draw, Atletico Mineiro drew 1-1 at Godoy Cruz and Sport Boys Warnes drew 3-3 at home to Libertad.
The winner of the Copa Libertadores, South America's top club competition, will earn the right to play at the FIFA Club World Cup in the Unitied Arab Emirates in December.
