Suriya not part of Savitri biopic

Chennai, April 1: Actor Suriya won't be part of upcoming bilingual film "Mahanati", a biopic on legendary southern actress Savitri, a source has clarified in response to contrary reports.
"It's true that Suriya was considered for actor Gemini Ganesan's role but the offer didn't materialise. The makers have moved on with the offer for someone else," a source close to Suriya told IANS.
To be directed by Nag Ashwin, the film -- to be made in Tamil and Telugu -- stars Keerthy Suresh as Savitri.
Also starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu in a key role, the makers plan to go on the floors from later this month.
The rest of the cast and crew are in the process of being finalised.
