Indian physician found shot dead in his car in Michigan

Dr Ramesh Kumar, a physician in Michigan, was found shot dead in his car in Detroit on Thursday. He was 32.
Kumar was the son of Dr Narendra Kumar, a former president of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) and the Association of Kerala Medical Graduates. Dr Ramesh, who was found on the passenger side of his car, was a resident in urology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
On Thursday, when he did not show up for work at the hospital, Dr Mani Menon, chief of the department, called his father to ask about the absence, which he deemed unusual. When Narendra Kumar’s several phone calls and text messages to his son went unanswered, he drove to his son’s apartment. Finding nobody there, he alerted the police. However, the police asked him to wait since the son had been missing for only a few hours.
After a few hours had lapsed and there was no response from Ramesh Kumar, his father called the police again, and they started investigating.
By 5 pm, his car was found at a rest area on the highway with the body on the passenger seat. By 10:30 pm, the body was identified and the police informed the parents.
An autopsy is being conducted today. Police have not yet found a motive for the murder. The family does not think it was a hate crime.
Ramesh Kumar was a graduate of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in Kochi, India.
The private funeral service will be held on Monday.
A prayer service will be held at the residence of Dr. Narendra Kumar on May 7 Sunday at 11 am. 3 East Grove Court, Freeland, MI-48623
