Maheshinte Prathikaram wins big at Jio Filmfare Awards

Kochi: The 64th Jio Filmfare Awards (South, 2017) saw 'Maheshinte Prathikaram' bagging the best film, best director and best music album awards at Hyderabad on Saturday. Nivin Pauly and Nayantara bagged the best actor and best actress awards for their performances in 'Action Hero Biju' and 'Puthiya Niyamam' respectively. Nivin had won praise for enacting the role of tough cop SI Biju Paulose in the film while Nayantara was appreciated for her role as Kathakali artist Vasuki Iyer.

Vinayakan, who won the state film awards for the best actor, received the award for the best actor in a supporting role for his performance in 'Kammattipadam'. Asha Sarath walked away with the award for the best actress in a supporting role, the film was 'Anuraga Karikkin Vellam'.

'Maheshinte Prathikaram' bagged the best film award beating Mohanlal's top-grosser 'Pulimurugan' (the first film to cross Rs 100-crore and Rs150-crore mark in Mollywood) and hit films such as 'Kammattipadam', 'Oppam' and 'Action Hero Biju'.
