Rio de Janeiro, July 19: Argentine winger Ricardo Centurion is close to joining Italian Serie A football club Genoa from Brazil's Sao Paulo, according to media reports.

The 24-year-old travelled to Italy on Tuesday to undergo a medical and sign paperwork, the Lance news portal said, adding that Sao Paulo would receive 3.5 million euros (around $4.03 million) for the transfer, reports Xinhua news agency.

Centurion has already had a spell at Genoa, playing just 12 matches for the club during a frustrating season-long loan from Argentina's Racing Club.

After 81 appearances for Sao Paulo, the former Argentina under-20 international was loaned out to Boca Juniors last season and helped the Buenos Aires outfit secure their 32nd Argentine title.

Genoa finished 16th in the 2016-17 Italian Serie A standings with just nine wins from 38 matches.
