First Test: Pandya, Shami help India post 600/10 vs Sri Lanka
Galle, July 2: The quick-fire knocks from debutant Hardik Pandya and tailander batsman Mohammad Shami post lunch session, helped India post 600/10 in the first innings on the second day of the first cricket Test match against Sri Lanka at Galle International Stadium here on Thursday.
After Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Pradeep (6/132) sent back middle-order batsman Ravindra Jadeja (15) cheaply, Shami (30) and middle-order batsman Pandya (50) contributed 62 runs for the ninth wicket and helped India post a challenging score.
Pandya's half-century was laced with five boundaries and three sixes while Shami slammed three sixes in his cameo innings with a strike rate of 100.00.
Incoming batsman Umesh Yadav stayed unbeaten on 11 runs off 10 balls at the end.
