Kerala Catholic priest rescued from Yemen
New Delhi/Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 12: Catholic priest Father Tom Uzhunnalil, who was abducted in March last year allegedly by terrorists in Yemen, has been released, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said on Tuesday.
"I am happy to inform that Father Tom Uzhunnalil has been rescued," she tweeted.
Uzhunnalil, who hails from Kottayam, was kidnapped from a care home in Yemen's southern port city of Aden last year.
According to reports in Thiruvananthapuram, the priest was flown from Yemen to Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman.
He will be flown to Kerala later in the day.
