J&K to regularise services of 60K daily wagers

Jammu, Dec 13 Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said the state government will regularise the services of 60,000 casual labourers and daily wagers.
In a statement issued on Twitter, Mufti said the move was to provide sustainable livelihood to those who need it the most. "Hard work and dedication must always be recognised and appreciated."
The issue of giving permanent employment to thousands of workers has been hanging fire for over a decade.
Many of these daily bread earners have exhausted the option of alternate occupations after they were engaged as casual labourers and daily wagers in the government departments.
