Australia rout England, regain Ashes trophy
Perth, Dec 18: A dominant Australia regained the Ashes trophy after crushing England by an innings and 41 runs on the fifth day of the third Test here on Monday.
England were bowled out for 218 in their second innings which meant that along with their first innings score of 403, the visitors couldn't overcome Australia's humongous first innings total of 662/9 declared.
Dawid Malan (54) gave England hope of saving the match after the visitors resumed the day at 132/4.
But seamer Josh Hazlewood (5/48) did the job for Australia, removing Malan, Jonny Bairstow (14) and Craig Overton (12) on the final day.
Fellow seamer Pat Cummins took two wickets.
Australia had won the first two Tests by 10 wickets and 120 runs respectively.
