Two militants killed in Shopian district gunfight
Srinagar, Dec 19 Two militants were killed on Tuesday in a gunfight between the security forces and the militants in Kashmir's Shopian district.
The gunfight had started in Batmuran village of Shopian district on Monday evening when the troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police surrounded a house on a tip off.
The intelligence reports said that about two to three militants were hiding in that house, police said.
Police sources said two militants were killed in the encounter and one soldier sustained a minor injury.
The house in which the militants were hiding was destroyed during the gunfight.
"The operation is still going on in the area", Police said.
