Pence to head US delegation for PyeongChang Winter Olympics
Washington, Jan 11: Vice President Mike Pence will lead the US delegation to the 2018 Winter Olympics Games which is to be held in PyeongChang, South Korea, next month, the White House said.
US President Donald Trump informed his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-In of the decision during their phone call earlier in the day, according to a White House statement on Wednesday.
On a phone call with Moon in late November, Trump promised to send a high-level US delegation to the Winter Games, Xinhua reports.
The PyeongChang games, slated from February 9 to 25, gained extra spotlight as North Korea, after its talks with South Korea over the past two years, agreed to send a team to participate in the events.
