Wesley Mathews and Sini Mathews, the adoptive parents of Sherin Mathews have agreed to relinquish their parental rights for their 4-year old biological child, Dallas News reported. The decision is irrevocable..

In a custody hearing both stood in shackles before a juvenile court judge and ended their fight for the custody of the biological child, who is with Wesley’s relations in Houston. Those relatives are now planning to adopt the girl, said Marissa Gonzales, a spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Family Protective Services.

Sini Mathews’s attorney Mitch Nolte told the court that ‘she made the extremely difficult decision to give up her parental rights because, given the circumstances and the pending criminal cases, this is in the best interests of the child. She wants what's best for her remaining daughter.’

Wesley Mathews has been charged with capital murder in 3-year-old Sherin's death in October. Sini Mathews was arrested on a charge of child abandonment or endangerment.

The Medical Examiner had determined that Sherin was killed by homicidal violence. Her body was dumped in a culvert.
The indictment said that he killed Sherin by a manner and means unknown to the grand jury.

If convicted, Mathews could face the death penalty, should prosecutors choose to pursue it, or an automatic sentence of life without parole.
Earlier the court had blocked the parents from having contact with their biological child.
