Clear sky in J&K cause sub-zero temperature in valley

Jammu/Srinagar, Feb 19: A clear night sky led minimum temperatures throughout the Kashmir Valley to remain below the freezing point on Monday even as temperatures in the Jammu region showed further improvement.
The Met said a fresh Western Disturbance (WD) was approaching Jammu and Kashmir and rain and snow were likely to occur from February 22 onwards.
The minimum temperature was minus 1.6 in Srinagar while it was minus 5.5 in Pahalgam and minus six in Gulmarg.
At minus 10.5 Leh was the coldest town in the state, followed by Kargil at minus 10.
Jammu city recorded 8.7, Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine base camp Katra 10.4, Batote 5.6, Banihal 3.2, Bhaderwah 2.3 and Udhampur 5.5 as the night's lowest temperature.
