Father Joseph Varghese is being nominated to the Executive Council of RELIGIONS FOR PEACE

New York: March 23, 2018: The Board of Directors of the Religions for Peace USA is nominated Father Joseph Varghese to its Executive Council. The United Nations based organization (Religions for Peace USA, 777 United Nations Plaza, 9th Floor, New York. ) invited Father Varghese to its Executive Council being held in Washington DC in May 2018.

RELIGIONS FOR PEACE—the world’s largest and most representative multi-religious coalition—advances common action among the world’s religious communities for peace. Religions for Peace works to transform violent conflict, advance human development, promote just and harmonious societies, and protect the earth. The global Religions for Peace network comprises a World Council of senior religious leaders from all regions of the world; six regional inter-religious bodies and more than 90 national ones; and the Global Women of Faith Network and Global Interfaith Youth Network.

This prestigious nomination is the result of Father Varghese's long standing commitment to Religious Freedom in International arena especially his work as Executive Director, Institute for Religious Freedom and Tolerances, New York. Father Varghese is already a member of the Inter-Religious dialogue of National Council of Churches with Hindus and Buddhists Organizations in the USA.
