10 people killed in school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas

SANTA FE, Texas
Ten people were killed in a shooting at Santa Fe High School, 35 miles from Houston, near Galveston, this morning.
A male student was taken into custody. Another student was detained as a person of interest.
Explosive devices also had been found both on the campus and in surrounding areas. Police are advising people not to touch suspicious packages and call the police immediately.
The problem began at about 7:45 a.m.
One of the injured was an officer working for the Santa Fe school district as a school resource officer, said Joe Giusti, a Galveston County commissioner.
A hospital in Galveston reported that it was treating three patients, including one student-aged and two adults.

The Galveston County sheriff identified the suspect, who was in custody, as Dimitrios Pagourtzis, a 17-year-old student at the school in Santa Fe, Tex. He appeared to have obtained a shotgun and a .38 revolver from his father, who legally owned them, the authorities said.
