Sivani Jonnalagadda crowned Miss India New England 2019; Mihika Abraham, Miss Teen; Deepa Jayavelu, Mrs. India
Sivani Jonnalagadda was crowned as Miss India New England 2019 at a glittering pageant held at Ambrosia Banquets at Olive and Mint in Foxborough, Massachusetts, January 19.
Miss India Teen New England 2019 is Mihika Abraham, while Deepa Jayavelu was crowned as Mrs. India New England 2019.

The girls/women of Indian origin, from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire participated in the event. They competed in four rounds of contest- evening gown, ethnic dress, talent round and on-stage question and answer session.
Miss India New England Jonnalagadda is from Waltham, Massachusetts. She is a statistician in a life sciences company, a trained Carnatic musician who impressed everyone with her classical singing in talent segment. She is also a Bharathnatyam dancer.
Miss India Teen New England Abraham, 17, is a high school student. She is a Bharathnatyam dancer, Bollywood choreographer and instructor and state destination Imagination champion.
Mrs. India New England Jayavelu is a director in Boston based tech firm. She is passionate about classical and Bollywood dance forms, Yoga and volunteers her time at NESSP temple in Groton Massachusetts.
The winners will participate in Miss India USA pageant in February 2019 in New Jersey organized by Dr Dharmatma Saran and Mrs Neelam Saran. Miss India New England is affiliated with Worldwide pageant system.
Directed and produced by Ruchika Arora who is also state director of Miss India USA, the event was witnessed by a capacity crowd at the stadium including celebrities. It has become an annual New England tradition since 2012.
The Miss India New England pageant is designed to identify and support talented young Indian Americans and promote the culture and traditions of India. The girls and women, who participated in the event presented their various talents inspiring all. It was a unique experience for all and a celebration of Indian heritage in a vibrant way.
Arora is a design graduate from NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi) and worked for different brands and had an independent label before having children. “My initial purpose for events was to know people to celebrate Indian festivals with them just like a big family. I also enjoyed volunteering for different organizations before beginning ‘Miss India New England’ pageant in 2012.
“My meeting with girls/women from different corners of New England states inspired me to create this platform for them where they could represent themselves in different rounds of contest, network with others of their age and flaunt both Indian traditions and Western fashion with confidence and pride.â€
Crowns were sponsored by Tewarie Enterprises. The judges were Monica Gill (Bollywood/Punjabi actress, model, anchor); Shree Saini (reigning Miss India Worldwide winner 2019); Prady Tewarie (entrepreneur, lawyer, professional body builder); Dr Manju Sheth (physician, community leader, show host of Chai with Manju); Rutuja Patil (Bollywood/Marathi television actress); Rakashi Chand (community leader, pageant winner); Preeti Munjal (philanthropist, entrepreneur) and Shirin Bakre (catwalk/choreography expert, black belt Karate, Bharathnatyam dancer)
Arora thanked Mrs Neelam and Dr Dharmatma Saran of Worldwide Pageants. The winners of this parade will participate in Miss India USA
