A Historic Milestone: Mayor Robin J. Elackatt Secures Third Consecutive Term in Missouri City

In a night filled with pride, joy, and heartfelt community spirit, residents, leaders, and supporters packed the Missouri City Community Center to celebrate a defining moment in the city’s history—the Installment Ceremony and Meet and Greet honoring Mayor Robin J. Elackatt and the newly sworn-in City Council.

The standing-room-only crowd reflected the warmth and unity of a community committed to progress and shared purpose. Families, long-time residents, community leaders, and dignitaries gathered to witness the swearing-in of Missouri City’s newly elected officials and to celebrate Mayor Robin J. Elackatt’s historic accomplishment as a South Asian leader securing his third mayoral term—2020–2022, 2022–2025, and now 2025–2028.

A Historic Victory and a Symbol of Representation
Mayor Elackatt’s reelection—defeating outgoing District B Councilmember Jeffrey Boney with 52.61% of the vote—marks a significant moment not only for Missouri City but for the broader South Asian community in Texas. His rise stands as a powerful testament to the city’s diversity, inclusion, and shared belief in representative leadership.

240th District Judge Surendran K. Pattel, who also hails from the same state in India, administered the oath of office, underscoring the deep cultural pride and shared heritage present throughout the evening. Judge Pattel spoke passionately about Elackatt’s dedication, service, and the honor he brings to the community.

Mayor Robin J. Elackatt, a proud father of two daughters, Leah and Kaitlyn, took a moment to recognize the unwavering support of his family. “To my wife, Tina, and my daughters, thank you for your love, your patience, and your strength,” he said, highlighting the personal foundation behind his public service. 

First Lady of Missouri City, Tina Elackatt, played a special role in the ceremony by holding the Holy Bible as Judge Surendran K. Pattel administered the oath of office to the Mayor—symbolizing both faith and family as pillars of leadership.  The ceremony also celebrated the installation Sonya Brown-Marshall, Mayor Pro Tem / Councilmember at Large Position No. 1, Lynn Clouser, Councilmember at Large Position No. 2 and Sharita L. Thompson, Councilmember District B. Councilmember Thompson, a U.S. Armed Services veteran and first-time officeholder, delivered a touching message, Council member Clouser called the moment a victory not just for her, but for the entire city. Mayor-Pro Tem and Councilmember Brown-Marshall, entering her second term, thanked residents for their trust:

A Mayor’s Message from the Heart
Mayor Elackatt took the stage with a message anchored in gratitude, family, and service. With emotion and sincerity, he recognized those closest to him and the many supporters and faith leaders who carry him in their prayers. He offered heartfelt thanks to the Former Honorable Thomas Chazhikadan, who traveled from India to attend the ceremony—another reminder of the global journey that brought Mayor Elackatt to this moment.

Mayor Robin J. Elackatt’s message to Missouri City was clear, “Leadership is not about a title. It is about service. And I am here to serve all of Missouri City.” 

He reflected on the progress made—strengthened core services, public safety enhancements, improved parks and facilities, and consistent investment in infrastructure. But most importantly, Mayor outlined what comes next such as continued road and drainage improvements, continued investment in police, fire, and first responders, economic development and small business support, smarter tools and better services for residents, more vibrant spaces that reflect the city’s diversity and responsible planning for the next decade. “We are not just maintaining a city. We are shaping a legacy,” he declared. He reminded the room that no leader moves forward alone: “Every neighborhood matters. Every voice matters. Every family matters.” And in a powerful call to unity, he urged residents to choose connection over conflict: “Let’s choose understanding over anger, dialogue over division, and unity over anything that tries to pull us apart.”

A Celebration of Community
The ceremony ended with standing ovation for Mayor Robin Elackatt and other elected councilmembers. Applause, smiles, and a strong sense of togetherness was seen at the installment ceremony after which guests gathered for photographs and refreshments—capturing a moment in time that symbolized Missouri City’s bright future.

This installment ceremony was more than a swearing-in. It was a celebration of heritage, public service, and the community’s unwavering belief in progress. As Mayor Elackatt begins his third term alongside a dedicated City Council, Missouri City stands poised to continue moving forward—faster, stronger, and together.
