Sini Mathews’s trail date set for April 15

DALLAS
A Dallas County judge will decide on February 4 whether a separate trial is needed for Sini Mathews, the adoptive mother of Sherin Mathews, the Richardson toddler found dead in a culvert in 2017.
Sini's trial is currently expected to begin on April 15. Her husband Wesley Mathews’s trial is expected to start in May.
Sini has petitioned to have her trial separated from her husband. Wesley Mathews is charged with capital murder in the girl's death, while Sni is accused of leaving Sherin home alone the night the three-year-old was reported missing.
The prosecution said both should be tried together because they are accused in the same ‘criminal episode’ and that the witnesses and evidence to be presented are nearly identical, according to an NBC report.
The judge also issued a gag order on the attorneys in both cases.
Last week, the judge denied Sini’s request for a bond reduction from $100,000 to $2500.
Both Sini and Mathews appeared in the courtroom today (Monday) and acknowledged each other in court. ‘Wesley Mathews was escorted out of the court room first, and made eye contact with Sini. He gave her a head nod, both exchanged smiles,’ said a Tweet by Scott Sidway @ScottyWK
