March 23 :
After threatening to "take down" the aircraft, an Indian American man was taken into custody at Tampa International Airport in Florida. Travelling from Tampa to Philadelphia on American Airlines Flight 2506 was 29-year-old Shail Patel. The disruption caused a 30-minute delay in the flight.

Patel started acting "erratically" as soon as he got on the plane, according to criminal records cited by The New York Post. The records also stated that "he reeked of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes." He was apparently calling the passengers "blue-eyed white devils," "yelling and cursing" at them, and threatening to "take this plane down with all you mother f–kers on it." He allegedly spat on someone and slapped them in the face and hand.

Videos of Patel's antics captured by passengers on the trip were cited by The Post. The report states that in one film, Patel—dressed in a striped button-down shirt—was heard calling a crew member a "k–e." "I'm trying to get to my home country and you all people made it harder for me to get to my home country," Patel can be heard yelling in another video. In a another video, "a frustrated flyer wearing a baseball cap and blue hoodie grabbed Patel and put him in a headlock following a shoving match." Two counts of violence and one count of disorderly drunkenness, all misdemeanours, led to Patel's detention. As of arch 22, he was still bonded out of the Hillsboro County jail for $2,150.
