June 24 :
Joe Biden's new immigration strategy should include proven dreamers (spouses of green card applicants who have been backlogged) and children of long-term visa holders, according to the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS), which made its plea on June 19. Hundreds of thousands of spouses of lawful permanent residents who are now on lengthy green card waitlists as a result of the country-wise quota of 7% are left out of Biden's new immigration policy, according to FIIDS USA.

According to FIIDS, their children who were educated in the US are starting to fall out of favour at the age of 21. Yes, they are dreamers and dreamers in their own right. They shouldn't be exempt from such restrictions simply because they are legal.

The Indian-American group has asked President Biden to help the spouses of lawful permanent residents trapped in the H-1B visa backlog that has persisted for over a decade. The spouses' ability to file for a separate green card and acquire work permits (EAD) independently of their spouse's employment-based green card status was something they fought for.

According to FIIDS, the children of these green card applicants who are currently facing a backlog should be granted immediate employment authorization (EAD) based on their educational qualifications. According to FIIDS, these policies would make it easier for families to stay together and for them to contribute more to the US economy.

In this regard, FIIDS has also initiated a petition.

Citizenship by marriage is now possible for non-citizens who have lived in the US for at least 10 years and who are married to US citizens or permanent resident aliens, as well as their offspring, according to a new policy announced by President Biden. Biden was thanked by FIIDS for this policy.

An announcement was made by President Biden allowing the wives of US citizens who have been living in the US for ten years or more to apply for accelerated citizenship. Furthermore, children of undocumented immigrants who complete postsecondary education will have the opportunity to apply for work visas and eventually become permanent residents. We applaud President Biden's efforts to foster family togetherness and boost the economy, as well as his dedication to maintaining the stability of American households.

Spouses and children of green card applicants who are now experiencing a backlog are not eligible for the newly announced legal status, even though Biden extended respite to those parties. The enormous green card backlog is still a problem for these people.
