July 26 :
As the only freshman to ever occupy the position of Ranking Member in two subcommittees, Indian American Congressman Shri Thanedar is making history. He was recently named to the Subcommittee on Oversight, Investigations, and Regulations of the Small Business Committee.

The 2022 US House of Representatives election brought the Michigan congressman into office. At one point in his career, he presided over the Transportation and Maritime Security Subcommittee of the House Homeland Security Committee.

Through these leadership positions, Thanedar aims to improve the lives of working families in Metro Detroit, according to a statement he released. Congressman Thanedar expressed his gratitude to Ranking Member Velázquez for entrusting him with this crucial leadership role. The fact that she chose him to serve as the ranking member of two subcommittees while being a freshman in Congress is "a testament to the hard work I am doing on behalf of my constituents across Metro Detroit," he said, adding to the statement.

The former business owner turned politician has spoken out on the pressing need to offer small business owners with information and rules that are clear, simple, and easy to understand, since he knows firsthand the difficulties of running a small business.

In his new position, he intends to keep addressing practical concerns that small companies face, such as the availability of funding, the quality of the staff, and the need for clear and concise rules.

Through a number of pieces of legislation, the Indian American congressman has made substantial contributions to small companies. To make it easier and cheaper to get the necessary licenses and permits for small businesses, he proposed the One Stop Shop for Small Business Licensing Act. This would make it less difficult for people to start their own businesses.

In addition, he put up legislation to bolster apprenticeship programs via SBDCs, known as the Small Business Workforce Pipeline Act. As a result of this program, local companies would have the means to expand their apprenticeship programs and provide additional employment possibilities to people.
