Kamala Harris Raises $540 Million in Just Over a Month for Presidential Campaign
Washington, DC August 26:
The campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris announced on August 25 that in the little over a month after she officially entered the race, she has amassed $540 million, with a significant influx of contributions occurring during last week's Democratic National Convention.
According to a document written by Jen O'Malley Dillon, Harris' campaign manager, the Democratic Party's enthusiasm for her candidacy is evident in the $540 million raised, of which $82 million was raised during convention week."This is the most ever for any presidential campaign in this time span," according to her.
When President Joe Biden resigned on July 21 due to pressure from fellow Democrats worried about his mental capacity following his misstep in a debate against Republican Donald Trump on June 27, Vice President Harris became a presidential candidate. The surge in support for Harris's campaign has put Trump on the defensive, and he is now fighting for attention from the media.
This week, Harris and her vice presidential running mate Tim Walz are touring Georgia on a bus, hoping to garner support in a state that will play a significant role in the November 5 election.
