Eric Garcetti Emphasizes US-India Friendship: "We're Always Here When You Call
September 12 :
On Wednesday, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti emphasized the strong relationship between the two countries in resolving border disputes, stating, "we're always here when you call." While in Mumbai for Ganesh Chaturthi, Eric Garcetti stopped by Pandal.
"We know sometimes we face the same enemies, so whether they're non-state actors or state actors, we are stronger together," Garcetti told ANI, discussing US-India relations. We are making headway in that area and are certain that we can allow India the room it needs to resolve its border concerns. However, we are available 24/7 to take your call.
Additionally, Garcetti reaffirmed that the United States will always be ready to provide assistance in times of need and that the responsibility for resolving India's problems lies with the Indian people and their government.
The problems faced by India must be addressed by the Indian people and their administration. It is not for us to lecture or preach about that from the outside, as Garcetti made very clear.
"But we're here to listen and learn, and nobody can deny how close the friendship between India and the US has become in moments of threats that we've seen, whether it's on the border with China," said the official.
The US is committed to sustaining its defense technology collaboration with India, according to Garcetti, who added, "We want to have India be a place where our planes and ships can come for repairs."
"Not only have we been there in the past several years, but for decades... With deals like the Predator drones, new aircraft engines, and other items we're considering, we know that. Together, we aim to keep developing and producing goods. Our goal is to have India serve as a maintenance station for our ships and planes. And we know we confront the same difficulties through initiatives like the Quad, which unites several nations," Garcetti added.
