Spetember 24 :
Muhammad Yunus, head of Bangladesh's interim administration, is staying at a hotel in New York for the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session, but he was met with vocal protestors who yelled "Go Back" chants outside the hotel. Alleged assaults on Bangladeshi minorities prompted protesters to chant chants against Yunus, chief advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh.

Those protesting put up placards reading "Shiekh Hasina Our Prime Minister" and shouted, "Go back, Step down, Step down, Step down."
The country's parliament was dissolved and Yunus was sworn in as the leader of an interim government on August 8, following Sheikh Hasina's departure.

They said the 84-year-old Nobel laureate got to the top "with dirty politics." Muhammad Yunus unlawfully and unconstitutionally assumed power. Many lives were lost as he rose to power through underhanded political maneuvering. The elected prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, has not yet stepped down. An audience member named Sheikh Jamal Hussain told ANI that the demonstrators were respectfully requesting that the UN representative not represent the people of Bangladesh in this area.

"Our demand is peace," DM Ronald, another protester, told ANI. Secular democracy is our belief. Christians, Muslims, and Hindus were all slaughtered once he forcibly assumed power. The masjid, the Gijar Church, and every dwelling were set ablaze. There is a serious threat to our people in Bangladesh.

"I am here to protest the illegal, unelected person representing 117 million people of Bangladesh..." Dr. Rahman, another protestor, stated. The students appointed him; he was not chosen. Nobody matters to him, including minorities. His occupation of the country is completely unlawful.

Dhaka Tribune cited the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs as saying that Younus is scheduled to meet with US President Joe Biden on Tuesday, among several high-profile encounters that are scheduled to take place during the UNGA. On September 27, the main advisor of Bangaldesh is scheduled to speak during the UNGA General Debate.

As per Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Advisor Md Touhid Hossain, the chief advisor is scheduled to meet with a slew of world leaders, including the prime ministers of Nepal, Pakistan, and the Netherlands, as well as the US secretary of state, the UN secretary-general, the head of the UN human rights department, the president of the world bank, and the administrator of USAID.

Decisions regarding meetings are often made at the eleventh hour during this time, according to the foreign advisor. Additionally, Yunus is scheduled to attend a high-level side event regarding the Rohingya situation. The chief advisor is expected to meet with Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi. A high-level side event called "Meet the Friends of Bangladesh" will also be attended by the main adviser.
