Kamala Harris Campaign and Supporters Raise $1 Billion Since Presidential Candidacy
October 10 :
According to a source briefed on the topic, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, who assumed the role in July, has raised $1 billion for her presidential campaign and affiliated political parties. Donations to Harris's campaign, her connected PACs, and the Democratic Party have poured in at record rates since July 21, when she succeeded Joe Biden as president. After just one week of campaigning, Harris had raised half a billion dollars. She had $25 million on the day she was named candidate.
Comparatively, Harris and the Democrats had $440 million on hand at the end of August, while former president Trump and the Republican Party raised $130 million, leaving $295 million. A new national lead for Harris is shrinking, according to Reuters/Ipsos polls, and the race is close in many key states where Trump is running.
The source added that the large sum will go into advertising, operations in states that are considered to be battlegrounds, and staff, reflecting the donors' excitement leading up to the November 5th election.
