Nirmala Sitharaman to Visit USA and Mexico for High-Level Financial Meetings

Union Minister for Finance Nirmala Sitharaman will go to the US and Mexico on an official visit.From October 20th to the 26th, Sitharaman will be visiting the United States. During her stay, she will attend multiple important meetings. She is scheduled to be present at the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) annual meetings. She will also be present in the G20 Joint Meeting of Finance, Environment, and Foreign Ministers and the fourth G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) Meeting.

Participation in debates on international monetary policy and an increase in India's economic engagement are two goals of the visit. At the G7-Africa Ministerial Roundtable, Sitharaman will take part in talks about pressing global economic and development issues. Indian officials hope to strengthen cooperation on global financial policy and increase their country's international economic engagement during their visit.

From October 20th to the 26th, Sitharaman will be in the Big Apple and the nation's capital. While in New York, she will meet with academics and students at Columbia University and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, as well as participate in a Pension Funds Roundtable at the New York Stock Exchange.

At events hosted by CDRI and CSIS, as well as the Global Sovereign Debt Roundtable (GSDR), she will also take part. Important bilateral discussions are planned with officials from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Germany, in addition to the leaders of the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

In addition to attending a World Bank Group event on creative financial solutions, Sitharaman will also participate in a panel discussion on Bretton Woods Institutions (BWI) with other world leaders such as Carlos Cuerpo of Spain, Rania Al-Mashat of Egypt, and Lawrence H. Summers. She will be accompanied by a group from the Mexican Ministry of Finance on her maiden tour, which takes place from October 17th to the 20th.
