Nov 6 :
Rep. Shri Thanedar has won reelection for a second term in the 13th Congressional District of Michigan, making it his eighth straight win in the Detroit area. Thanedar placed the credit for this success on his dedication to providing excellent constituent services, standing up for unions and working families, and fighting for reproductive rights.

A large number of constituents approach Thanedar at every event to share stories of how his office assisted them with various matters, including immigration, visas, veterans' benefits, tax returns, etc. That is a result of the hard work of my team, and I am really happy of how well we are able to represent our constituents.

In reviewing his first term in office, Thanedar spoke about how federal spending had an effect on the district, mentioning Southgate in particular. Downriver, we were able to channel federal funds to places that had never had them before. But I will make sure that every town in my area gets the money they need from the federal government," he said. The lawmaker took satisfaction in his leadership on problems related to small businesses and mental health, and he listed his legislative achievements, including 27 measures he authored and 574 others he co-sponsored.

Additionally, Thanedar thanked the unions and groups that backed his campaign, the Democratic leadership in the United States House of Representatives for endorsing him, and his opponents for participating in the democratic process. The unprecedented investment in America that President Biden initiated, I hope, can be continued with the success of Vice President Harris and Governor Walz. As for the 13th District and its residents, he promised to fight for them no matter what.

Thanedar emigrated to the United States from Karnataka, India, to pursue higher education, where he eventually earned a Ph.D. and an MBA. He shifted gears swiftly from a career in business and chemistry to public service, serving in the Michigan legislature and later in the nation's capital. Strong constituent services, battling for working families, unions, and reproductive rights have become Thanedar's trademarks since he assumed office in January 2023
