Bars must provide drivers for intoxicated customers’; MVD issues a circular.

The Motor Vehicles Department has issued a circular to bars. Bars must arrange drivers for intoxicated customers and instruct customers not to drive after consuming alcohol. These are among the directives included in the circular. A copy of the circular was received on the 24th.

In the joint inspections conducted by the police and the Motor Vehicles Department at black spots across the state, thousands of violations were identified in just a single day. The checking is focused on the national highways where the most accidents occur. Out of every hundred vehicles on the roads, at least ten are found to be violating the rules. The inspections will initially be focused on accident-prone areas. Action will be taken against violations such as speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without attention, not wearing helmets and seat belts, and operating services with overloaded vehicles.

Those who have received notices for traffic violations but have not paid the fines will be identified, and the fines will be collected by visiting their homes. The action is part of a joint inspection by the police and the Motor Vehicles Department to reduce vehicle accidents. Information about customers who do not comply with the circular must be shared with both the police and the Motor Vehicles Department. The MVD clarified that the details of the drivers provided must be recorded in the register. The enforcement instructions were issued by the RTO.
