Power outage due to a strike; a young couple arrived at the registrar's office with a generator.

Do couples now need to carry a generator to get a marriage certificate? The incident took place at the Pampady Sub-Registrar Office in Kottayam. When a power outage disrupted services, a young couple arrived at the registrar's office with a generator to get their marriage certificate. They faced this unusual situation while trying to collect the certificate before returning to the U.S. Due to the power line strike, a notice was issued stating there would be no electricity from 9 AM to 5 PM. After waiting until noon for the power to be restored, the young couple took the initiative to bring a generator.

As they had booked return tickets for Saturday, the couple couldn't postpone collecting the certificate to another day. This prompted them to bring a generator to the Sub-Registrar Office. With the consent of the staff, the couple brought the generator from Pampady. With the power supply restored using the generator, the staff happily issued the marriage certificate to the couple. The couple then returned to the United States on Saturday with the certificate in hand.

However, after their requirement was fulfilled, the couple left without turning off the generator. As a result, the generator turned out to be helpful for those who visited the Sub-Registrar Office on Friday for various purposes. Although things were managed temporarily, visitors to the office are now asking whether alternative arrangements will be ensured during power outages and if someone will be available to bring a generator during such times.
