Renjini RamachandranDrinking a glass of milk every day can reduce the risk of bowel cancer by 17%, or one in five, according to a study report. This finding was revealed in research conducted by Oxford University researchers. Bowel cancer is the third most dangerous type of cancer. It starts in the large intestine and develops into polyps in the lining of the colon and rectum.
Milk and dairy products, rich in calcium and vitamins, help protect against bowel cancer. Including 300 milligrams of calcium in your daily diet can reduce the likelihood of bowel cancer by 17%. Calcium-rich foods like leafy vegetables and yogurt also help protect against bowel cancer. However, the study states that consuming cheese or ice cream will not provide these benefits.
