Georgia's Rajni Sundarhiaraj Honored with Presidential Award for Excellence in STEM Education

Rajni Sundarhiaraj, a science educator from Georgia, is one of five Indian Americans to be awarded the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) for her exceptional contributions to STEM education for K-12 students.

With 28 years of experience in the education field, Sundarhiaraj has dedicated the past nine years teaching various science subjects at Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts in Jonesboro. Her previous roles include teaching at Therrell High School for four years, Langston Hughes High School for two years, and Westlake High School for one year. Additionally, she brings valuable international experience, having taught in India and Saudi Arabia for a combined 12 years.

Currently, Sundarhiaraj is set to teach science to English Language Learners (ESOL) in grades 9-12 at South Atlanta High School. She incorporates differentiated instruction, inquiry-based labs, and rigorous academic lessons, all designed to meet the unique needs of each student, ensuring a fair and inclusive learning environment.
