Michelin with 'Made in India' tires; a new beginning in the Indian market.

Leading French tire manufacturer Michelin has launched its first 'Made in India' premium passenger vehicle tires. The tires are set to reach the market from its state-of-the-art plant in Chennai. They will be commercially available across India by the first half of 2026.

Michelin India Managing Director Shantanu Deshpande said the Chennai car tire plant was built at a record pace, completed in just 12 months. The company initially invested ₹2,800 crore for the plant and later added another ₹686 crore.

The new plant produces tires in various sizes ranging from 16 to 22 inches. The 'Made in India' tires for Indian customers include models such as LTX Trail S.T., Pilot Sport 4 SUV, Pilot Sport 5, and Primacy 5.

In the Indian market, Michelin primarily competes with leading companies like MRF, JK Tyres, Apollo, and Ceat. The new production is expected to strengthen Michelin’s position in the Indian market.
