Sensex up 66 points; metal stocks surge

Mumbai: A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Wednesday was trading 65.90 points or 0.23 percent up as metal stocks surged.

Good buying was observed in metal and healthcare sectors. Selling pressure was seen in capital goods sector.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 29,129.85 points, was trading at 29,066.04 points (at 09.23 a.m.) in the early session, up 65.90 points or 0.23 percent from the previous day's close at 29.000.14 points.

The Sensex has touched a high of 29,133.62 points and a low of 29,049.05 points in the trade so far.

The S&P metal index gained by 157.28 points and healthcare index moved up by 83.20 points. However, capital goods index went down by 48.87 points.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also was trading 11.15 points or 0.13 percent up at 8767.70 points.
