Describing the attack on a Christian school in Delhi as "pre-planned", West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress Friday called for peace.

"Does not matter if the Delhi school is run by Christians, Hindus, Muslims or atheists... children have been violated," tweeted Trinamool spokesperson Derek O'Brien.

O'Brien said he has spoken to authorities in Delhi who told him the CCTV system was first destroyed "and then the school vandalised". "Suggests attack well planned," he said on Twitter.

"Holy Child School run by Catholic nuns in Delhi... Attacked . Vandalized ... Please. Give peace a chance," he added.

Employees of Holy Child Auxilium School in south Delhi's Vasant Vihar area have told police that a few CCTV cameras in the premises were damaged, the principal's office was ransacked and Rs.8,000 stolen from a donation box.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday expressed his "deep concern" and "anguish" over rising crime in the national capital as he summoned Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi following the ransacking of the school.

It was the sixth such incident targetting Christian institutions in the last two months -- with the other cases involving vandalism.
